Starman, the unsigned pop band the nation has followed on Sky1's addictive TV series Pineapple Dance Studios will launch its debut single, 'I Don't Wanna Dance' next week. For fans who have followed every twist and turn in the band's search for success, this is their chance to show their support and help Starman become a chart sensation by buying the track on Monday April 26th 2010.
"We are incredibly excited that our first single will be coming out next week," said Andrew Stone, lead singer of Starman. "Being a part of Pineapple Dance Studios on Sky1 has been amazing and we are delighted at the support we have got over the last two months. It's been a long journey to get to this point; we just hope our wonderful fans will buy 'I Don't Wanna Dance' and everyone will be humming it wherever they go!"
Pineapple Dance Studios is a fly-on-the wall documentary about the famous dance studios in Soho. Narrated by Michael Burke, Pineapple has become the talk of the entertainment industry with the show already being sold internationally. The 12 part series is screened every Sunday at 6:00pm on Sky1 and Sky1 HD. Pineapple gives an insight into what it takes to make it in the music business and shows the band's formation, first performances, styling, photo-shoots, recordings, music videos and showcases. Starman has amassed an impressive fan base during this time and this is evident on the band's Facebook, MySpace and Twitter pages.
The band's lead singer Andrew Stone is a key character in Pineapple and has been widely reported for his sometimes controversial views and opinions. In the series, Andrew shares with the audience his personal journey and his aspirations of fame and fortune in the music business. 'I Don't Wanna Dance' is a solid mix of styles from Savage Gardens to Scissor Sisters and 80s electro.
The single also features some quality club mixes from the likes of Fred Portelli, Jason UFO and Mark Zomerset. The song has an infectious hook that is bound to get you dancing. The single releases April 26th 2010 and is available for download on iTunes now! here

The group have taken matters into their own hands and decided to release their first debut single alone without a record label but with the help of management. Sky 1 and Click Records Entertainment have signed a non-exclusive sync licensing deal for approximately 8 tracks from the newly signed band Starman to be used as part of Sky's new up-coming Pineapple documentary which will be airing this coming February 2010 on Sky 1 and Sky 1 HD.
